Stability
Riata has been around for almost three years. We're self-sustaining and we have a number of safeguards in place to ensure that if one admin leaves, the game will be neither stranded nor will it be closed. The game can and will continue indefinitely thanks to our planning and preparation. Additionally, our longevity means that we're one of the oldest, best established, and most stable sims around. If you join Riata, you'll be guaranteed a game that will stay around. No more creating horses, investing time, and then having the game closed from under your feet. We don't do stupid stuff like that.
Saneness
In Riata, you'll find that a wide range of interests and people are represented by the admin committee. You'll also find that we're all well-balanced, mentally stable people who don't generally become unreasonable because we're off our meds. We promise, we're all either unmedicated or thoroughly committed to mood stabilizers for life. There's no depressive or manic episodes to deal with here. We're always happy all the time (unless you're dealing with Beth. She's a teensy bit crusty at times! Haha)
Close-Knit
Many Riata players have been in the game for over a year. As such, we're a close-knit family sort of group. We love to have new "family" join the game as well but you'll find that we all care about everyone and really enjoy each other's company. Riata is about being part of a community and participating fully in the community. This isn't a place for part-time participation. Come, immerse yourself, you won't be sorry.
Open-Mindedness
Riata is home to a wide range of unique people. It's gorgeous that we all get along so well and part of that is because we offer the same respect to all players regardless of what those players like, are interested in, or want to pursue. Are you a stripper in real life who wants to breed Standardbred Pacers in Riata? Not a problem, you're more than welcome. Are you an FBI agent needing a little downtime to breed Irish Sport Horse Eventers? Go for it, we're here for you. Riata is non-judgemental, non-demoninational, and the only thing we take seriously is your English and grammatical knowledge.
Respect
Along the same lines as open-mindedness, everyone in Riata practices respect for other players and for their opinions and beliefs. We value differing opinions and appreciate alternative viewpoints and Riata is founded upon the appreciation and enjoyment of a good mature discussion as well as the love of a goofy, silly, fun discussion. You'll find that Riata respects our players because we know it's the players that make this such a brilliant game.
All players are also respected regardless of their level with in the game. Just because you joined a week ago doesn't mean that your voice and opinion is any less important or valuable than that of a player who has been here a year. Riata doesn't discriminate based on your time in the game. We love all of our players the same.
Variety
Because Riata has such a strong and active memberbase, we have something going on for anyone and everyone. If you're interested in one discipline or many there's a spot for you here. If you love one breed or want to have a number of different breeds, that's totally possible here. Our show calendar is full every month and we have a ton of different associations, registries, and player interest shows. We have special events for our players, fun get-togethers, and bonding opportunities. One thing you won't be in Riata is bored!
Additionally, Riata has players with all sorts of personalities. We aren't all cookie-cutter sim players here. Some players are outspoken some are quiet. Some are goofy and some are more serious. While you may not be best friends with everyone in the game, there's someone here you'll love (and you'll still like everyone because we're all pretty darn spiffy!)
Participation
Riata players are uber active. We all love the game and most of us only play one game in order to focus our attention on the best game in the world. Players who want to really succeed in the game definitely only play one or two games. After all, who needs a different game, really? We've got everything you need right here. Players love to help out, love to support other players, and really get into the game with both feet and all their fingers. Sure, we aren't always perfect and there are differing perspectives, but Riata really can't be beat.
Approachable
The admin and senior players are all very approachable. There are many ways you can reach us and we love to talk to everyone. We hold special chats to get to know all of the players better and more often than not, we're friends with the players which makes us less admin and more regular player. This really is a game for and by the players. The admin play the game like any other player, run associations, mentor players, etc.
No Politics!
Most importantly of all, Riata is as free as possible from all the horrible politics that plague so many games. You don't have to be friends with one person in order to succeed because most of our positions are filled by secret voting from the PLAYERS (not the admin) in a game. If you're an awful person, sure, players won't vote for you, but you probably won't stay in the game either, since Riata is a game for good people, drama-free people, and sane people. The main point of Riata is to have fun and to enjoy each other and our company and not to be constantly rushing for the "top" of the game. We enjoy the journey and the destination is just whipped cream.
